Ruth Gourley
Principal, Shine Communications

Ruth has more than two decades of experience in PR, the last 12 of which have been as Principal of Shine Communications which she founded in 2005.

With a B.A.(Hons.) in Media and English and a UK post-graduate qualification in Communications, Advertising and Marketing (CAM), Ruth has worked for businesses in London, the Channel Islands and Australia, and has advised PR clients in a diverse range of sectors. Ruth is passionate about her not-for-profit clients, and her work has been recognised in both state and national media awards as a result of the high-profile PR campaigns developed and executed by Shine Communications.

Committed to animal welfare and advocacy, Ruth also volunteers her time for numerous animal charities in Western Australia, including The Dogs’ Refuge Home in Shenton Park, where she has executed a proactive program of media relations activity on a voluntary basis for over a decade.

She is also a past board member of national animal welfare organisation Animal Welfare League Australia (AWLA).   



Katherine Mountain
Senior Account Manager, Shine Communications

Katherine joined the Shine Communications team in 2013 after working as a journalist for three years at the Albany Advertiser.

Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Communication Studies from the University of Western Australia, and she completed her Master of Journalism at Curtin University in 2010.

During her time at the Advertiser, Katherine won the Print category of the 2012 Deborah Kirwan Media Award for her work portraying seniors in a positive light in the media.

As a senior account manager at Shine Communications, Katherine manages a diverse portfolio of public relations clients, assisting them with everything from day-to-day communication requirements to managing media strategies for high-profile events.
