Last year, Shine partnered with SIDS and Kids WA to coordinate media coverage for the third annual Sunshine Beach Run. The Sunshine Beach Run was founded by West Coast Eagles physiotherapist Chris Perkin to raise awareness and help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, stillbirth and miscarriage in the WA community.

Shine coordinated a media launch for the event, hosted by Channel 7 personality Adrian Barich and spearheaded by event ambassadors West Coast Eagles stars Matt Priddis and Mark Le Cras. The launch gained coverage across all of Perth’s commercial TV stations, in addition to stories in The West Australian and Perth Now.

In the lead-up to the event, Shine fostered strong working relationships with a number of Sunshine Beach Run’s celebrity ambassadors, leveraging these sports stars’ profiles to gain further media coverage promoting the event.

In addition, Shine implemented a broad media engagement strategy focussing on ‘community supporters’ taking part in the event. This resulted in dozens of articles published in both regional newspapers and Perth community news mastheads, radio interviews on key commercial stations community radio stations and The Sunday Times.

Ultimately, the Sunshine Beach Run was a huge success, raising more than $180,000 for SIDS and Kids WA. Shine also gained post-event media coverage across a variety of platforms, including TV, print and online coverage.
